What I Learned as the Reporter's Intern

Journalism is a craft that requires curiosity, passion and fearlessness. And although it may demand long hours in the office, crunching deadlines, and what seems to be the never-ending workload piled high on your desk, the final product of a newspaper makes everything worth the extra effort. I was able to witness the talents of The Monroe County Reporter’s newspaper team for eight weeks, and I was in awe every second of the way—while also getting to join in on the fun, too. 

There are so many “ifs” in life. But as a journalist, I learned that you’re supposed to answer those “ifs.” It’s your duty to handle anything that is thrown your way—and handle it with grace. The newspaper is relied on to print the truth and to release reliable information to the community—and that’s exactly what The Reporter does day in and day out.
